A piece by South African Writer & Lifestyle Blogger ChanyD on what makes her hair pop!
My personal favorites ...
Welcome to a ChanyD Hair Mission Post😉
If anyone knows me,I am always sharing my views and experiences with products & what works for me. When it comes to my hair,I must admit I am a bit obsessed with it always looking good.
To me good hair is like the flippen best thing ever!
My blog is called “My Cuppa Tea” so I only blog about stuff that I love and works for me. I will never blog about anything I don’t use for myself or my family!
To be honest with you guys ... sharing my personal experiences and educating others is a big deal to me. I am always helping others and making sure my fellow peeps make the best choices when it comes to looking fab as well.
Finding hair products that actually work off-course puts a big flippen smile on my dial! Yes,I spend money on products until I find the very best that works for my hair type and get the look I am going for.
Personally, I am obsessed with pin straight flat hair that has that chopped look at the bottom. I hardly ever curl or wave my hair as I feel that look doesn't suit me very much.
Well my gran and mum both agree! And everyone knows the Mama’s always know best! In fact I always consult with my mum for a certain look or outfit and believe me when I say,“I got it from my Mama”!
Back to my hair food winners 😍 I must add that to find product/s that works for you and your hair type requires loads of trial and error.
I have used several salons and hair gurus & look reality is that everyone is trying to make money so for me it just boiled down to lots of research.
Hair Irons & Straighteners : I’m not sure about you, but I have a few straighteners & for me I have my favs!
My everyday straightener is the GHD original thick plate iron. It works the best for my hair type and well I use the thick one to save time!😎
In fact this is my 3rd one since I have been using the thick plates and believe me when I say I have mastered the art of how to get my hair done. Because I love the sleek look I don’t even use a comb or brush to style it! (Note, this is not the only straightener that I use).
The trick to sleek hair is to use a hair masque when washing and make sure everything is well rinsed off. I blow dry my hair with both the hot and cool effects of the hair-dryer.
I don’t know why but I just feel that it makes my hair more shiny and straight. I have a break between drying and ironing. Most times I have a drink in between just to cool off😄
So when it comes to ironing my hair – I do it in parts – the bottoms first. I use hair oils (just a small dab), and this fab hair product that works like a damn boss! It's a serum from Kerastase. I was elated the day I used this product and it worked! A real winner for me 👌
I always keep a spare hair oil product in the car coz’ I believe in adding some just before I walk in to wherever I am going. Whether it’s Church,an event, the mall etc,I just add some to make sure I have that sleek look. (If you want to see the exact ones that I use, send me an inbox).
Even my assistant/helper knows that my car has to always have one! If you go to either of our cars right now (hubby or mine), you will definitely find a bottle staring at you from the passenger side door.
My point I am trying to get across is that if you want good hair you gotta make the sacrifices to make sure your hair is always on swag! I do get the days where my hair is a mess and well my everyday look is a ponytail but I always feel that hair needs to be taken care off.
I also invest in good products for my kid’s hair. I will be sharing some of that on my social media soon.
Shampoo and Conditioner – It’s like the hardest thing on the planet. Trying to find one that is well priced and does the job is a real mission. Traditionally, I use my everyday retail shop products which I purchase at Dischem, this is left in my bathroom for just in case I don’t have my favourite brand and when I go on holiday.
Also for like everyday use. I also make sure all the bathrooms I use if I’m staying over (like at my gran’s house),always has these products ready for me. Yes I travel a lot & spend loads of time with my grandmother!
My tip for terrific hair would definitely be to invest in it at a good salon. I must admit my salon Franco International is flippen fabulous. The staff are friendly, kind and they treat you well. They all have smiles – from the lady cleaning to the senior hairstylist all are people-orientated and posses excellent skills. Shout-out to that gorgeous clan & my favs Ashley (Yeah he's the naughtiest),Calan, Jerry & Joy!
Their service is outta this world. I use the branch at Sandton City or Hyde Park and both are just so darn good. I do purchase my hair products from Franco International or Silk (their satellite salon also at Sandton City).
For me good hair is all about investing in it, taking care of it, cleaning it, & treating it right!
So choose a good salon , find products that works for you & and take extra care of your gorgeous tresses.
Yours in fabulous hair …
